Q. My neighbor said she had “swarmers” and that we should check our property too. I am freaked out! I know it has something to do with termites, but it sounds like a horror movie title. Kerry D. – Gwynedd, PA
A.While the term “swarmers” does sound like a horror movie title, it doesn’t necessarily mean your home is the set where termites play the leading role – yet. At certain times of the year, a termite colony will produce winged adults that fly away to form their own colony. If you find termite swarmers inside your home or business, it is likely you have an infestation. But take heart, it may not mean termites. Several ant species also produce winged adults. The best bet is to call me for a quick inspection. I can determine if you have a termite or ant colony in or close to your home or business and advise on the best treatment to get rid of the pests.
